This is a picture from a recent disbursement of shoeboxes to Vaziani, a community in the Republic of Georgia. In this community many residents live in dilapidated apartments that were once inhabited by Soviet soldiers. Even though they are in disrepair and often crumble, the people live there because it is free. They have access to a school, which they walk to, but do not have easy access to a church. Samaritan’s Purse delivered shoeboxes to these children and trained adults, many from their same area, to teach the children through the Greatest Journey discipleship program. Many of children graduated, learned to read and study their Bibles, and became believers. Our Fellowship Kids through Kids Camp are going through a part of this program right now. They will be packing shoeboxes as a part of this camp as well. What an awesome way for our kids to be a part of other kids’ lives around the world- a true full circle story!
Speaking of kids the start of school is quickly approaching and deals on school supplies are heating up. Check any “big box” or office supply store for many deals under $1.00. Other deals that you may come across that are great for boxes are end of the season sales on summer toys/accessories. Look for flip flops, nerf balls, sunglasses, short sleeved t-shirts and Frisbees. As you’re out and about shopping, would you pick up an extra box of baggies. These are what we use to pack hygiene kits and extras are always appreciated. Also, the Women at the Well are in need of shoeboxes to wrap. If you have any extras, please bring them to Fellowship, and they will be put to good use. As always, continue to bathe this ministry in prayer and thank you for your partnership!
