Our team of 20 left Fellowship around 10:00 a.m. Monday morning and arrived in Prague at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday Evening. It is now Wednesday Morning here (I think. I also think I am awake right not but not completely sure.) In between our departure and arrival we had a grand adventure.
Before we left the Little Rock airport deals were made that netted over $2000.00 of benefit for four of our “out of college” students. (Reports on that will come later.) Our travel was uneventful all the way to London. In London we knew we had a six hour layover so, with the help of a few friends (Thanks so much to Shawn Faust and Mellina), we took a whirlwind tour of ol’ London Town. After waiting until 9:30 am so we could get the discounted tickets we were able to get unlimited one day tickets for the “tube” for £49, which was an amazing deal. One hour into London and in the next hour and a half we saw Parliament and Big Ben, walked across the Thames, saw Westminster Abby, St. James Park and Buckingham Palace (I was leading a tour of a city I have never visited so my external confidence was “Clint Eastwood” and my internal confidence was “Barney Fife”.) At Buckingham Palace (getting there was a fluke but don’t tell anybody) we arrived just in time to see a parade with some dignitary – we didn’t care who it was but the horses were totally cool.
On the way back to the airport our train track was hit by lightning so we had a bit of an adventure getting back to Terminal 5 but made it in plenty of time for our departure. However, the weather over Dover did not cooperate and we sat in the plane for an hour and a half before leaving for Prague. When we did arrive we were greeted by the smiling faces of Emily Hughes, David and Martina from JV. (A few old Vinohrady faces also showed up to a hug or two.) An hour bus ride and we were at the new digs for American Team Training until Friday when we leave for Camp.
Pray that we will get rested, stay healthy (Conner Strickland is much better) and that God will use the time in training to focus us in on how he can work in us and through us to accomplish great things while we are here. Much of our time in the next three days will be spent praying. Please join us in those prayers because we know that this is a long trip and God can do some great things but the evil one would love to sabotage all of that. We don’t really miss you all very much yet, we will later, right now we are just tired and excited at the same time so lease keep us in your prayers.
For the Only Cause that Matters,
