ACTS: THE CHURCH ON MISSION
The Persecution of the Church
Sermon Slides – Click here
Capture and Release
Obedience during persecution puts you on the center stage of God’s purpose.
Pomp Amid Embarrassing Circumstance
Religious people make spectacles of their power,
instead of being filled by the Holy Spirit.
Confrontation Over Allegiance
Your true allegiance will be exposed when persecution breaks out.
Joy in Persecution
Spirit-filled followers of Jesus will joyfully obey when they are persecuted.
Living on Mission:
Spirit-filled followers of Jesus who live in obedience will be persecuted.
- Prayerfully ask the Lord to show you who has your allegiance.
- In community, commit to growing deep in your faith and helping others do the same.
This Week’s Growth Guide
God’s Word is both central and critical to your spiritual growth.
We invite you to utilize the Growth Guide during the week to further your application of the Truth from the message.
Our Home Churches meet weekly to facilitate quicker relational depth, study the same passage taught Sunday to help apply Scripture in the context of community, and pray with one another. Home Church helps our body seek God’s best for one another.
Home Church Questions
• Read Acts 5:17-42.
• What stuck out to you from today’s message?
• How long do you think you have before persecution of Christians would directly affect your household?
• What would it look like to be ready for that level of persecution?
• What changes would take place in your household if real widespread persecution of Christians broke out in America?
• If you were confronted and put on trial today as the apostles were, how do you think you would respond? Why?
• How can you be part of preparing future generations to have allegiance only to Jesus when persecution comes?
• What will you do different this week in light of this passage?
February 25 | 6-8:00 p.m.
Join us for the next Discipleship 101 training Monday, February 25th, from 6-8pm. We will be studying spiritual disciplines. God wants us all to know Him deeply and I believe that spiritual disciplines are one of the avenues God uses to draw His people into deeper understanding, deeper knowledge, and ultimately deeper relationship with Himself. To register email Michael at firstname.lastname@example.org. Child care provided by RSVP to Shanna at email@example.com.
Father / Daughter Masquerade Ball | February 23 | 7-9:30 p.m.
This is a fun event for girls (ages 5th-12th grade) and their dads. Start the evening with dinner on your own with your daughter (daughters). Then join us at Renewal Ranch Restoration Center for an evening of dancing with great music (both D.J. and a band) providing current music with a coach for “social dancing”. Bring (and wear) your own mask or one will be available for you. This will be a great evening to show your daughter what to expect and how to be treated on a date. Cost is $5 per lady with a maximum of $15 per family. Register at fellowshipconway.org/register.
2019 Czech Republic Mission Trip – Pisek
Are you under the age of 35? Would you like to go on a life changing trip? Would you like to help take the gospel to a country with less than 1% of evangelical Christians? If you answered yes to these questions, then the 2019 Písek, Czech Republic Mission Trip is for you! For more information or to sign up for the trip contact Zach Benton at firstname.lastname@example.org or 870.830.7305.
IFO Conversation Club
Would you like to join IFO weekly to help internationals practice conversational English with you and other Americans? Conversation Club meets for six weeks at the beginning of each semester. This event will help the students learn, practice, and develop good conversational English skills. They will also learn the meaning and use of American idioms, just for fun. An added bonus is that we serve a great meal each week before we break into discussion groups. However, the most valuable part of Conversation Club is connecting with others and building meaningful cross-cultural, forever friendships!
The Go Store is in need of daily volunteers to help with various tasks from hanging and putting out clothing, cleaning, putting out new inventory, and talking to customers.
