A Lesson on Civil Disobedience
Proclamation, Persecution, and Progress
The Gospel advances in spite of opposition (4:1-4).
“You can’t keep a good man down.”
Kindness, Christ Crucified, and Caiaphas
Salvation for everyone is found only in the name of Jesus (4:5-12).
“Jesus is the Rock and He rolled my blues away.”
Sanhedrin, Silence, and Sign
When the choice is between God and government, always choose God (4:13-22).
“You ain’t the boss of me!”
Living on Mission:
The church of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit,
continues to testify to salvation in Jesus’ name
in spite of opposition from any source.
Living on Mission
- Know the gospel so you can share the gospel.
- Obey the government, even if it allows evil.
- Obey God when the authorities command disobedience.
- If you choose to obey God rather than man, accept the consequences with joy.
This Week’s Growth Guide
God’s Word is both central and critical to your spiritual growth.
We invite you to utilize the Growth Guide during the week to further your application of the Truth from the message.
- Monday – Exodus 1:15-22
- Tuesday – Romans 13:1-7
- Wednesday – 1 Timothy 2:1-7
- Thursday – Romans 12:14-21
- Friday – Acts 4:23-31
Our Home Churches meet weekly to facilitate quicker relational depth, study the same passage taught Sunday to help apply Scripture in the context of community, and pray with one another. Home Church helps our body seek God’s best for one another.
Home Church Questions
• Read Acts 4:1-22.
•Is there anything new, interesting or memorable from today’s message?
•Is there an immediate application you know you need to make? How can your Home Church support you in your obedience to make this application?
•Discuss the current state of our society. Are we getting better or worse? Are you hopeful or not? What will it take for American culture to improve?
•If improvements were made that you would like, what would our country look like?
•Read Romans 13:1-7. Why is it hard to obey a government that allows evil?
•Read 1 Timothy 2:1-7. How should we pray for our leaders?
•When would you disobey the government? What is a legitimate reason for doing this?
•Just how willing are we to actually suffer for Jesus?
“Why They Stay”
We are inviting the entire Fellowship Family to join us on November 3, from 8:30-1:30 for a very important time as we explore how we can invest in the next generation to keep them committed to Christ. In our current culture young adults are leaving the church in droves. We want to address the reasons why they stray from the family of God, and explore how we can all partner together to help them stay committed.
Breakout sessions will be offered throughout the day. Childcare, continental breakfast, and lunch will be included. Register at the Connection Center or
by clicking here.

Fellowship Volunteer Opportunities
Ushers – We are looking for a few good men who are willing to work with a team and serve as ushers. Email Michael at email@example.com for more information.
Valet Parking – Our new Northwest Entrance will provide a shorter distance from your vehicle to a seat in the Worship Center for anyone who needs it. When it is completed we want to provide valet parking for our elderly and anyone unable to manage the distance from the parking spaces. We are looking for a dedicated team with a big heart for serving. If this is something you are interested in or you want more information, contact Michael Harrison at firstname.lastname@example.org.
