Dear Fellowship Family,
Ever since 1976, February has carried with it the observance of Black History Month, and the precursor of this practice began back in 1926. If you follow Marvin Williams on Facebook, he’s been posting some great articles and videos about influential African Americans. These videos sparked a memory for me: the story of George Liele. My experience has been that many are not aware that the first missionary to carry the gospel out from our shores was an African American.
It just so happens that The Traveling Team, where my wife used to work, has a wonderful article about him. If you’re a missions history buff, their website is a gold mine.
